In this research, an efficient method for the one-pot synthesis of 2-aminothiazoles via reaction of thiourea with methylcarbonyls in the presence of iodine as an oxidant reagent has been developed using asparagine as a green organocatalyst at 80° in DMSO solvent. Advantages of this efficient method include greener and cleaner conditions, easy isolation of products, higher purity and excellent yield of products, and convenient manipulation.
