Step 3:Ammonium formate (8.75 g), thiazole-5-carbaldehyde (5.23 g), and isonitrile 3 (12.0 g) were dissolved in MeOH (100 mL) and heated to reflux for 4 h. The solution was concentrated to approximately 20 mL of MeOH and EtOAc (200 mL) was added. The mixture was filtered and the solvent evaporated to yield a light brown solid.
