Benzothiazole-6-carbonyl chloride Under anhydrous conditions, a mixture of benzothiazole-6-carboxylic acid (1.0 g, 5.6 mmol) and oxalyl chloride (0.5 mL, 5.6 mmol) in dichloromethane (25 mL) containing a catalytic amount of N,N-dimethylformamide was stirred at ambient temperature for 3 hours. Removal of the solvent in vacuo provided a quantitative yield of the acid chloride as a light brown solid, which was used as such in the next step.
